Match report based closely on Staffs website. The Notts team quickly went into a 5 - 0 lead but as the other games finished, the results started to swing back to Staffs.  Peter Broomhall found himself in a tense engame position, but forced the advantage by pushing his king side forward.  Matthew Wyza, playing white, missed one winning opportunity, and soon found himself with pawns locked together and an opposing bishop blockading passed pawns, but won with careful play. Three ganes to go and it still looked like Notts would win. Bill Armstrong's win for Staffs brought the teams level.  The last game to finish was Steve Hill against Dragoljub Sudar.  In a tense position with plenty of onlookers Steve's flag had started to lift, while Dragoljub had almost 10 minutes left, but Steve held on to the win the match for Staffs.
