At the MCCU annual meeting, Peter Sherlock announced he was stepping down as MCCU county controller. Members thanked him for his work over many years. Delegates were concerned about the lack of team entries in the previous season and decided to organise 12-board Midland Counties team championship and Midlands Counties u1650 teams championships. To allow u1450 county players to participate, it was proposed that captains should be encouraged to reserve 2, 4 or 6 boards in their teams for u1450 players. The top two perfoming teams will be nominated for the Minor Counties and the u1650 Counties national stages. Counties who entered either or both of the MCCU competitions will be invited to submit expressions of interest for a MCCU nomination for any of other national stage competitions in the new year.
