It is significant that Kent, Nottingham and Sussex appear in the top six counties EVERY year.  Wey Valley and Barnet have appeared 4 times in the top 6; Berkshire twice; Cheshire/NW and Yorkshire once each.  In the same period Kent have won the title twice, Nottingham twice and Barnet once.

If we award 6 points for every first place; 5 for every second etc we arrive at the following scores: Kent 24, Nottingham 22, Wey Valley 19, Barnet 18, Sussex 16, Berks 4, Richmond 3, Yorks, Cheshire and NW and Oxford all 1 point each.  NB: Wherever there has been a tie on points I’ve awarded the higher place score.

It seems clear to me that consistently good coaching is being done in all the top five scoring counties and I propose that, subject to receiving some further information, all the head coaches in these 5 counties should be awarded the Class 1 coach title.  The further information I would like to see is some of the coaches playing history and their previous coaching achievements (I’ve attached my own to give some idea of what we need to be looking for).  After that I believe that all the other coaches who can show a history of good coaching within their county and any individual achievement should be awarded at least the Basic Coach level.

The other counties that appear in the lists regularly I would suggest that we ask for further information as to their coaching history and award titles accordingly.

This will give us a starting point and then we can start on a proper test procedure for future coaches.
