[Based on report from David Woodhouse]. Pearson finished first to put Derbyshire ahead. Then followed two early draws, followed by wins from both captains . On board 12, Milson used an avalanche of on board 12 and Smith also used a dangerous passed pawn pawns to force victory on board 1 making the match 4-3 to Derbyshire after nearly three hours play. Boards 3 and 15 agreed draws and Derbyshire had the advantage in both time and material on board2, but this game eventually finished a draw. Three hours into the session Newstead on board 13 levelled the score for Lincolnshire . In the remaining games, Derbyshire were ahead on boards 10 and 14 while Lincolnshire were ahead on boards 9 and 11 when a draw under the 2-minute rule was claimed on board 6. Lincolnshire went ahead 8-6 with wins on board 9 and 11. Pace gave Derbyshire drawing chances with his win, but Rae on board 10 had eliminated his material disadvantage and his opponent got short of time. In the final time-scramble on board 10, the Lincolnshire player won the game and the match to see Lincolnshire home by 9 points to 7.
