Notts bounce back after puncture. Report by Neil Graham. Notts suffered an early setback when they conceded a default; we subsequently heard that the player had suffered a puncture on route. However after this Notts swept the bottom Essex boards aside and took a 5-1 lead after a top board win. This was increased to 6-1 after the Board 3 ended with the Essex king checkmated in the middle of the board. However the other boards were much more closely contested with the southern county clearly ahead. The Midlands win was assured though when Board Two ended in Notts lone rook versus a lone Essex knight - a draw was agreed here and on Board 5. Essex won the last three boards but by that time it was too late.
