Midlands players who are under eleven year old and who aim to represent England in junior international events should ask their parents to contact Ray Dolan, the MCCU Chief Executive.

By playing in the competitions hosted on this website you agree that your name, chess grade and your membership status with the English Chess Federation (ECF) may be published on this website for the purposes of recording the results of the competitions. You also agree that such information will be passed to the ECF, the governing body, for rating purposes, and published on their website.

• Sun 5 May. Herefordshire Megafinal UK Chess Challenge at Hereford Cathedral School, Zimmerman Building, Church Street, Hereford HR1 2LT. Trophies for winners, medals for high scorers and qualification for Gigafinal in Delancey UK Chess Challenge in many age categories. 10am start, prize-giving 5pm. Time control 15 min + 10 sec
• Sun 12 May. Birmingham Megafinal UK Chess Challenge at Archbishop Ilsley Catholic School Birmingham B27 7XY. Trophies for winners, medals for high scorers and qualification for Gigafinal in Delancey UK Chess Challenge in many age categories. 10am start, prize-giving 5pm. Time control 15 min + 10 sec.
• Sat 18 May. Nottingham Megafinal UK Chess Challenge at Nottingham High School, Forest Road East, Nottingham NG1 4HH. Trophies for winners, medals for high scorers and qualification for Gigafinal in Delancey UK Chess Challenge in many age categories. 10am start, prize-giving 5pm. Time control 15 min + 10 sec.
• Sun 2 Jun. Worcestershire Megafinal UK Chess Challenge at Malvern College, College Road, Malvern WR14 3DF, 11am start for round 1. Six rounds, time control 15 min + 10 sec. Numerous sections for each age, boys and girls where highest scorer qualifies for a Gigafinal.
• Sun 2 Jun. Shropshire Megafinal UK Chess Challenge at Charlton School, Apely Avenue, Wellington, Telford TF13FA, 10am start for round 1. Six rounds, time control 15 min + 10 sec. Numerous sections for each age, boys and girls where highest scorer qualifies for a Gigafinal.
