Updated 10 September 2023 Season News 2022-3Final1 Jul 2023. Only one Midlands team made it to the finals, Warwickshire u2050, but decided to concede their match with Essex without playing. Semi-final matches10 Jun 2023. In the minor Counties, Lincolnshire lost to Norfolk. Warwickshire u2050 beat Surrey, but Warwickshire u1650 team lost to Greater Manchester. 21 May 2023. The only three Midlands teams in semi-finals are: Lincolnshire in the Minor Counties competition play Norfolk; Warwickshire in the u2050 play Surrey, Warwickshire u1650 play Greater Manchester. Quarter final matches20 May 2023. Warwickshire u1650 beat Worcestershire and Staffordshire conceded the match without playing to Essex. 13&4 May 2023. Lincolnshire had a walkover with Somerset in the Minor Counties. In the u1450 competition, Nottinghamshire lost to Greater Manchester and Staffordshire lost to Essex. 20 Apr 2023. Worcester and Cambridgeshire face off at South Kilworth Village Hall, Leics in the Minor Counties' on Sunday 14 May. The u1450 Nottinghamshire-Greater Manchester match will be played at Newcastle-u-Lyme on 13 May Draw for national stages9 Apr 2023. For the first time, there are no Midland teams in the Open tournament with Greater Manchester now being in the Northern Counties Chess Union. Lincolnshire and Worcestershire play in the quarter-finals against Somerset and Cambridgeshire respectively on 13 May. Warwickshire u2050 play Northumberland or Surrey in the u2040 semi-final on 10 June. No Midland team has entered the u1850 tournament. Three Midland teams play in the u1650 quarter finals on 20 May. Staffordshire play Essex, and Worcestershire and Warwickshire are paired against each other on 20 May. Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire play in the u1450 quarter-finals on 13 May: Nottinghamshire play Greater Manchester and Staffordshire play Essex. County teams line up21 Sep 2022. The Midlands Team Championship has three entries: Lincolnshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Only one team entered the u2050: Stafforshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire entered the u1650 competition. Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire will compete for the u1450 title. This is the first year since 1975 that Greater Manchester, who were able to move their affiliation to the geographically more sensible Northern Counties Chess Union during the summer, have not competed in the MCCU.
