Midland Open Championships 2019

The 2019 event was being held at Ramada Hotel Telford Ironbridge, Forge Gate, Telford TF3 4NA Friday 9 August to Sunday 11 August. Three different five-round tournaments: FIDÉ Open: FIDÉ u1900 (ECF u160); and ECF u130.

Round 1 Friday             19.00 – 23.00
Round 2 Saturday         10.00 – 14.00
Round 3 Saturday         15.00 – 19.00
Round 4 Sunday           10.00 – 14.00
Round 5 Sunday           15.00 – 19.00

Entrants may take a half-point bye in rounds 1 - 4.

Time control

Ninety minutes + 30 seconds increment from move 1.

Open to all players

1st £500; 2nd £250; 3rd £100
Plus best performance prize of £50 each

The leading MCCU Player will win the title of Midland Champion 2018, and qualify for the 2019 British Chess Championships

Open to: (1) FIDÉ rated players rated below 1900 FIDÉ; AND (2) players without a FIDÉ rating graded below 160 ECF

No player may win more than one prize. All place prize money will be shared equally between tied players.
